Production notes

What this result means

Calculate fit, fill, crop, and letterbox geometry between a source raster and target canvas. Results are intended for planning and convenience; confirm critical values in your editing, encoding, or delivery system.

Useful for

  • Adapting landscape masters to social canvases
  • Calculating pillarbox or letterbox padding
  • Finding center-crop dimensions for reframing

Assumptions

  • Pixels are square and scaling is uniform.
  • Crop and padding are centered and split equally where possible.
  • Displayed dimensions are rounded to whole pixels.

Limits & checks

  • Odd differences can leave one extra pixel on the right or bottom.
  • The tool does not choose a subject-aware crop position.
  • Codec alignment, overscan, and title-safe requirements are separate checks.

FAQ

Before the final export

What is the difference between Fit and Fill?

Fit shows all source pixels and may add bars. Fill covers the target and may crop the source.

Does this stretch the image?

No. Both modes keep the source aspect ratio.

Why are crop sides fractional before rounding?

Some scale factors produce subpixel geometry; real export tools must round or filter it.
